Hackney Bridge Kitchens is home to many food traders - offering everything from Japanese inspired soul food, to Indian street food, Filipino barbecue, Neapolitan pizza and juicy burgers, as well as, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The space is divided into two sections: the ground floor, housing the food traders, and the upper mezzanine with plenty of seating.
Bovine Burger specialise in NYC-style smashed burgers. Knocking together otherworldly beefy smashed burgers with a concise list of toppings (cheese, bacon, you know the drill) and gorgeous house-made sauces, all crammed inside a glossy, bakery-made bun. Classic burgers, done right.
Don’t miss: The Bovine OG – the double cheese burger. It’s a real patty party.
Filigrillz are the Filipino BBQ dons. There’s three things you should know about Filigrillz: prepare for bold flavours, grilled Filipino food and more BBQ’d meats for your British buck. Expect rice boxes and wraps filled to the brim with jasmine rice, salad and the choice of chicken thighs, pork stew or pork belly. Even on the greyest of days, these guys always bring the sunshine.
Don’t miss: The Gangsta Box ft not one, but two choices of meats, salad, and chilli oil for some bonus spice.
Japanese soul food experts Rainbo are famed for its East Meets West flavours, with the menu a love letter to Japanese street food. Think pudgy, pillowy gyoza with a range of fillings, chicken katsu, bao, and the unbeatable Japanese fried chicken – it’s the perfect drinking food. An excellent taste of Japan, via Hackney.
Don’t miss: A tray of mushroom gyoza. Great for sharing, but absolutely not a requirement.
South Indian curries are the order of the day at Tamila. Fragrant, warming and hearty, dip a flakey, layered roti into the spicy mutton/paneer butter masala/chicken curry/channa masala and you’re in for a one-way ticket to flavour town. Don’t miss the onion bhajis for a slap-up Tamila feast.
Don’t miss: The chicken curry. It’s a Tamila staple for good reason.
Move over sandwiches, wraps are where it’s at, especially when they’re as good as Wrap
n Rolla’s. Taking the humble tortilla and filling it with all manner of banging flavours, from
jerk chicken to halloumi and falafel, all dietary basis are covered culminating in the perfect
lunch vibe.
